MPG Recruitment are delighted to work with an established and highly successful Irish construction and civil engineering business with many years of experience delivering large scale projects across Ireland.

The business has built an excellent reputation within the industry and operates across a range of areas including construction, civil engineering, groundworks, road construction, resurfacing and associated services.

We are now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take responsibility for the financial management and control of the business and to play a key role as the company continues to grow.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who understands the construction industry and is comfortable working in a busy, commercially focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the day to day finance function
• Lead and manage the finance team
• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reporting
• Manage cash flow, budgeting and forecasting
• Monitor project costs, margins and profitability
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control
• Manage subcontractor payments and construction related financial processes
• Ensure compliance with VAT, RCT and other relevant Irish tax requirements
• Manage month end and year end processes
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks, suppliers and customers
• Develop and maintain strong financial controls and processes
• Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to senior management
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and efficiencies
• Support the continued growth and development of the business
• Work closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure strong financial management cross projects

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong understanding of the Irish construction or civil engineering sector.

Ideally, you will have:

• A fully recognised professional accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA
• Significant post qualification experience
• Strong previous experience within construction, civil engineering, contracting or a related industry
• Excellent understanding of management accounts, financial controls and reporting
• Experience with project accounting, job costing and monitoring project profitability
• Strong knowledge of Irish VAT, RCT and construction related financial requirements
• Experience managing and developing a finance team
• Strong commercial awareness and the ability to work closely with senior management
• Excellent Excel and financial systems skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills
• A hands on, practical approach with the ability to work in a fast paced environment
